About Ripley Hayes
Who Is Ripley Hayes?
I'm an ex-academic sociologist, living in Wales. I have wanted to write crime novels ever since I read my first one as a child. But, you know how it is, life gets in the way. Then the university I worked for made me an offer I couldn't refuse - money to 'retire' early. So I moved to a cabin in the woods and started fulfilling those childhood dreams. Now I write full time, borrowing the name of one of the most memorable characters in crime fiction -- Patricia Highsmith's Tom Ripley. My books all have Queer characters, and People of Colour, and they tell stories from the world I live in. There are no serial killers, but plenty of greed, power grabs and mental ill health. I also write about relationships, because life is not all work. Some of the relationships are sexual, some aren't, but they are all important, even when they aren't going well. I try to write the kind of books I'd like to read.
I wish I'd started earlier, but then I wouldn't have so many things to write about.
